Grass Fed Lamb

There’s nothing quite like grass fed meat: lower in fat and cholesterol and with more healthy Omega-3 fatty acids than feedlot meat, you’ll be surprised at the difference. In addition, grass fed meats are good for you and good for our world!.

If you think you don’t like the taste of lamb … maybe it’s time to give it another try! Our lamb is extremely mild. We usually tell people that it’s about as different from beef as chicken is from turkey: you know it’s not quite the same, but the difference doesn’t leap out at you. You can prepare lamb much the same way you’d prepare beef (or you can use recipes specifically for lamb): you may be pleasantly surprised at how easy and delicious it is!

Free Range Eggs

We had a difficult year with predators last summer, and our flock of chickens was substantially downsized. We are rebuilding the flock now, and with our new coop and secure chicken yard we hope to have eggs again later in the year and will probably hatch out some chicks in the spring. With the rising cost of fuel, however, we do not anticipate that regular egg deliveries into the city will continue: we will reassess our plans when we have eggs again, and will let you know what we decide is workable.

Fleece and Fibre Products

Our sheep are shorn the old-fashioned way, with a pair of human-powered hand shears, resulting in a sheep that looks like it was attacked by a weed whacker and an easily-skirted pile of fleece with very few second cuts. If you are interested in raw fleece, send us a note—we have an intermittent supply of Icelandic, Columbia and assorted crosses available.

In the coming year, we may be expanding this part of our farm - stay tuned for more!
